
Marshall County wasted no time making a statement in the opening game of the Region 1 softball tournament at Graves County High School, cruising past Carlisle County 15-0 in just three innings to advance to Tuesday’s semifinals.
After a scoreless first inning, the Marshall bats got to work, scoring nine runs in the second inning. The rally began after Trinlee Anderson was hit by a pitch, Kadence Cavitt drew a walk, and Merriel Jackson singled to load the bases.
Addley Poole opened the scoring with an RBI single, followed by a two-run double from Elin Denfip. Poole then scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-0. With two outs, Anderson delivered a two-run single, Cavitt added an RBI single, and Jackson drove in two more runs to cap the inning with a commanding 9-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third, Allicen Harris hit an RBI double, Audrey Knisley brought home a run with a groundout, Anderson drew a bases-loaded walk, and Poole was hit by a pitch to force in another run. Denfip sealed the mercy-rule victory with her second two-run double of the game, pushing the score to 15-0.
Harris gave up just one hit while striking out seven in the shutout victory.
They advance to Tuesday’s semifinal against Paducah Tilghman who defeated Graves County 9-1.
