Lady Marshals clinch third straight 4th District title

The Lady Marshals are the 4th District Champions for the third straight year after defeating Calloway County 12-2.

The Marshall County Lady Marshals captured their third consecutive 4th District Championship with a commanding 12-2 victory over Calloway County in Wednesday’s title game, wrapping it up in just five innings.

Allicen Harris delivered a standout performance on both sides of the ball. At the plate, she went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, and three RBIs. In the circle, she earned the win by striking out eight and allowing only two hits and two runs over the five innings.

Macy McLeod led the offense with a 3-for-4 outing, including a double and an RBI. Audrey Knisley was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a triple and an RBI. Addley Poole had two hits, including a triple, while Kandence Cavitt added two hits of her own, one a double. Trinlee Anderson came through with a three-run double.

The Lady Marshals set the tone early with a six-run first inning. McLeod opened the scoring with a double, and after an error and a walk loaded the bases, Anderson cleared them with her three-run double. Cavitt followed with a double and scored on an RBI single from Merriel Jackson. An error off Elin Denfip’s grounder brought in another run, and an RBI single by Emma Reynolds capped off the inning at 6-0.

In the third, Poole tripled and scored on a Denfip groundout to stretch the lead to 7-0. The Lady Lakers got on the board with two runs in the top of the fourth, sparked by a triple from Jaylee McLeod.

Marshall’s lead grew to 9-2 with two more runs in the fourth coming across home plate on a Harris triple and Knisley single.

They sealed the 12-2 win in the bottom of the fifth, driving in the final two runs on a McLeod single and Harris double.

The Lady Marshals overall record improves to 25-8-1 heading into next week’s Region 1 Tournament.
