KYTC District 1 Winter Weather Update for Jan. 6, 2025 at 7:30 a.m.

PADUCAH, Ky. (Jan. 6, 2025) – Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) crews are working diligently to treat slick spots along primary and secondary routes across the district.

However, in some northern counties along the Ohio River border, including Crittenden and Livingston counties, snow accumulations have increased creating hazardous driving conditions. Crews are reporting secondary roads in Livingston County are snow covered.

While Interstate 24 is in fairly good shape, crews are reporting re-freezing on bridges, including the Lake Barkley/Eddy Creek Bridge, as wind chills drop and snow continues to fall.

The National Weather Service morning forecast shows snow gradually ending from west to east in our region by approximately 10 a.m. Gusty winds of up to 30 mph will continue through early afternoon. Scattered power outages and tree damage could continue in areas that have received ice.

Motorists are urged to use caution today and, if possible, avoid unnecessary travel.

Maintain a safe distance from snowplows and other heavy highway equipment and do not pass snowplows on the shoulder.
