Jesse “Deen” Moore, 86, of Calvert City, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.

Deen was born to the late Jesse E. Moore and Nell Stringer Moore on March 15, 1938, in Ledbetter, Kentucky. In his younger years, Deen was very athletic and enjoyed playing sports. In high school, he played for his school’s baseball and basketball teams and continued to enjoy softball well into his adulthood. He also had a love for golf and old Westerns, which gave him countless hours of joy and relaxation. As a dedicated lineman and supervisor for Contel Inc., Deen was instrumental in installing the first phone system in Mammoth Cave, Mammoth Cave National Park, and in Calvert City, by modernizing telecommunications, installing the first digital phone systems throughout many of the industrial plants in the area. As a man of faith, he loved the Lord and attended Salt and Life Church in Paducah, Kentucky.

More than anything else, Deen was a family man who loved being surrounded by his loved ones. He treasured the moments spent with his beloved wife, Stella, sharing in all the activities that brought them even closer together as a couple. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, and he will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his daughter, Angela Deen Pomnitz (Todd) of Clarksville, Tennessee; his son, Mark Moore of Calvert City; one brother, Thomas Moore (Patricia) of Paducah; two grandchildren, Kyle Washburn (Claudia) of Paducah and Jessica Deen Suggs (Cam) of Greenbrier, TN; three great-grandchildren, Maggie Deen Suggs, Camden Suggs, and Molly Suggs; and nephew, Thomas L. Moore (Lisa) of Paducah.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Stella Moore; one brother, Charles L. Moore, and wife Carolyn; and his parents, Jesse and Nell Moore.
