On December 8, 2024, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Benton County Tennessee Sheriff’s Office that an alleged sexual assault that occurred in McCracken County had been reported to them. The victims’ father reported that his two daughters made statements that they were sexually assaulted while visiting a residence in McCracken County.
During the investigation by multiple agencies, it was determined that the juveniles, both under 12 years old, were sexually assaulted multiple times by Scheffer. The investigation also showed that the victims were subjected to extreme “punishments” along with the sexual abuse.
An arrest warrant was obtained by detectives and at approximately 11:30 AM on Friday, a deputy observed Scheffer outside a residence in the 800 block of Washington Street in Paducah, KY. He was quickly arrested and lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
Scheffer, 30 years old, was charged with two counts of Sodomy 1st Degree, one count each of Rape 1st Degree, Sexual Abuse 1st Degree, Criminal Abuse 1st Degree, and Incest. All charges were against a victim under 12 years of age.
