Janet LaRue Lyles, 77, of Benton, Kentucky passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024, at Rivers Bend Retirement Community in Kuttawa, Kentucky.

Janet was born on December 30, 1946, in Salem, Kentucky to the late James LaRue and Fanny Cash LaRue. Earlier in her life, she was a stay at home mother that enjoyed raising and guiding her two children with love and wisdom. After her children had grown, she embarked on a new journey for herself opening Janet’s Java, located inside the Executive Inn in Paducah before retiring after about 10 years. Janet found inspiration in her faith and enjoyed reading the Bible and watching various ministers on television, absorbing their teachings and incorporating them into her studies. She was very proud of everything she had learned and taught herself throughout her Bible studies. She had a creative personality that was captured and expressed through her writings. Whether she was writing about stories of personal experiences or fictional stories, she enjoyed writing stories to share with others.

She is survived by one daughter, Raquel Deckert of New Orleans, Louisiana; one son, Roddy Lyles (Cathy) of Benton, Kentucky; five brothers, James LaRue of Eddyville, Kentucky, Larry Joe LaRue (Brenda) of Mayfield, Kentucky, Johnny LaRue (Polly) of Jacksonville, Florida, Bobby LaRue (Pam) of Marion, Kentucky, and Roger LaRue of Marion, Kentucky; one granddaughter, Robin Lyles of Benton, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by, one sister, Charlotte Conger; and her parents, James LaRue and Fanny Cash LaRue.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann, 1003 Poplar Street, Benton, Kentucky.
