Benton, KY—The Filbeck-Cann Life Celebration Center has now been serving the families of Marshall County for over a year. The Center, located at 1003 Poplar Street in Benton, formerly the county’s public library, provides funerals, memorials and offers a place to hold various other events. It is the second location of Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home in Marshall County.
The Life Celebration Center underwent extensive renovations since the location was first built in 1971 as the public library. The LCC has the largest funeral chapel in western Kentucky, a dedicated family room, several modern and open gathering spaces, ample parking, a state-of-the-art audio-visual system and a banquet suite perfect for meals after services.
In the first year open, The Life Celebration Center was used by many families to celebrate the lives of those they cherished with a funeral or memorial service. One specific event held at the Life Celebration Center was the first Widow/Widowers’ Valentine’s dinner hosted by Filbeck-Cann. Other functions were held in the beautiful, comfortable facility.
In 1936, Fred Filbeck opened the first funeral home in Marshall County. Today, two Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home locations serve the community in order to best meet the needs of families. The original funeral home is still open for families. Founded on the historic court square, this location offers a quaint, intimate setting and the new Life Celebration Center is a modern, spacious option. Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home was chosen as the Kentucky Lake Chamber of Commerce’s “Business of the Year” in 2023.
