Jaunita Phelps, 90, of Calvert City, Kentucky passed away at 11:40AM Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Murray-Calloway County Hospital. Juanita retired from the housekeeping department at the Calvert City Convalescent Center. She was a charter member of the First Presbyterian Church in Calvert City, and a Lady of Calvert City.
She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Morris and her husband Ronnie of Murray, KY; one son, George Phelps and his wife Kristi of Nashville, TN; seven grandchildren, Jason Mayo, Gretchen Mayo Sams, Nick Jones, Josh Morris, Stephanie Phelps, Grant Phelps and Preston Phelps; and eight great grandchildren, Maci Morris, Riley Morris, Emma Jones, Gabby Jones, Elia Mayo, Cash Mayo, Jacob Sams and Marcus Sams.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Phelps; a daughter, Susie Brinkley; one son, Roy Phelps; a grandson, Jason Morris; and one brother, Merle Jones. Her parents were Oscar Jones and Erma Majors Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Filbeck-Cann & King Chapel. Rev. Eddie Majors and Rev. Kerry Lambert will officiate and burial will follow in the Marshall County Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM until 8:00PM on Monday, March 30, 2015 at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home.
