
Raymond Andrew Lucas, age 90, of Calvert City, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024.
Born on February 24, 1934,to the late Andrew Anthony and Dorothy McCary Lucas, in Chicago, Illinois. Raymond was a man whose warmth and jovial spirit touched everyone he met. He was a long time member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. He was a true outdoorsman, with his great love for fishing and hunting. He was an owner/operator of Lucas & Sons Construction. He was a voracious fan of college basketball, and he spent many joyful hours cheering for the Kentucky Wildcats. Raymond’s culinary skills were unparalleled, and his kitchen was a center of both delicious aromas and laughter. Above all, Raymond was a devoted father and grandfather, whose love and care knew no bounds. His guidance and affection shaped his family, leaving a legacy of cherished memories and enduring love. His passing is a great loss to all who knew him, and he will be remembered with immense fondness and respect. Raymond’s life was a testament to the beauty of simple pleasures and the power of a loving heart. He was also a United States Army veteran who served his country proudly.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Alice Gonzales Lucas of Calvert City; a daughter, Cynthia Rae (Mark) Devine of Calvert City; two sons, Ron S. Lucas of Paducah and Todd Andrew (Shannon) Lucas of Benton; six grandchildren, Chance Andrew (Allison) Lucas, Ryan Blake (Allison) Devine, Tyler Lucas (Cheyenne) Devine, Sommer Raye (Grant) Johnson, Keeley Brooke Lucas, and Linsey Nicole Lucas; nine great grandchildren, Nora Lynn Lucas, Mara Anne Lucas, Beck Andrew Lucas, Gavin Blake Devine, Eastin James Devine, Madelynn Rae Devine, Lucas Leigh Devine, Kaiden Thomas Johnson, and Sylas Lee Johnson;and a brother, Donald Patrick (Pam) Lucas of Calvert City.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Deloris Lucas, Joan Warner, and Sue McDowell; two brothers, Tom Lucas and Mike Lucas; and his parents.
A memorial funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Father Brian Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the service hour of 11:00 AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church.
