
Kerry Simmons, age 71 of Melber, Kentucky passed away at 4:15 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2024, at his home.
Kerry was a member of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Kerry retired from General Tire Company and later drove a bus for the Graves County Schools. He served in the U.S. National Guard. Kerry was one of the founding fathers of the Melber Fire Department and served as Assistant Fire Chief for many years. Kerry was actively involved in the community and church where he served as a greeter, and usher, working the St. John Fish Frys, the annual St. John Picnic, and the Melber Fire Department Ham Breakfast. Kerry was an avid fan of Loretta Lynn and her music.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Darlene Thomas Simmons, two sons, Shaun (Becky) Simmons of Paducah, Kentucky, and Matthew (Jenny) Simmons of Titusville, Florida; one daughter, Darla Simmons (Derrik); one sister, Barbara Simmons Rives of Arcola, Illinois; two brothers, Glenn (Donna) Simmons of Camp Verde, Arizona and Dwight (Janice) Simmons of Paducah, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Thomas Dean Simmons, Howard Simmons, Zoey Perry and Eli Simmons; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, William Howard Simmons and Genevieve Smith Simmons; and daughter-in-law, Surrisa Simmons
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Fogle officiating; Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until service time of 1:00 p.m.
