Rose Wells Lawrence, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at the age of 99, as the sun rose on June 7, 2024. Rose was born January 28, 1925, to Heraldie and Noah Dick, in Paducah.
Rose attended Reidland High School and Draughon’s Business College, where she became a certified bookkeeper. She was a member of Concord United Methodist Church.
Along with her husband, she owned and operated Vaughn Wells’ Garage in Paducah for many years. She also worked for The Shoe Factory, Bell’s Body Shop, Cherry the Florist, and volunteered for the Baptist Hospital Auxiliary until age 95.
Rose is survived by her daughters, Bethany Wyatt and Staci Drake of Paducah; her son, Scott Wells (Sandi) of Brentwood, Tennessee; her sister, Verna Horning, of Paducah; her grandchildren, Jase Wyatt of Lexington, Kentucky, Corey Drake (Leah) of Jacksonville, Florida; Bailey Drake of Paducah, and Hope Wells of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn Wells; her infant son, Gregory; her parents, James Noah Dick and Heraldie Carter Dick; her second husband, Joe Lawrence; her sisters, Mildred Hayes, Mable Powley and Evelyn Wilson; her brothers, J.C Dick, “Choc” Dick, Irvin Dick, and Jewell Dick.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 10, 2024 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Danny Orazine officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from12:00-2:00 P.M. Monday, June 10, 2024 at the funeral home.
