Wilbur Leon Burnett, age 88, of Ledbetter, Kentucky, was born on May 21, 1936, in Fancy Farm, Kentucky. He passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024, at the age of 88. Wilbur, a beloved brother among seventeen siblings, retired from a fulfilling career as a welder with Western Kentucky Gas Company, where he was known for his diligent work and kind-heartedness.

A man of faith, Wilbur attended Southland Baptist Temple, where he found great comfort and community. His mechanical inclinations and skill, enabled him to repair everything from a car engine to a dripping faucet. Wilbur enjoyed camping and spending time in the great outdoors.

Wilbur’s energetic spirit and warm smile will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Truly a “man who never met a stranger”, his legacy of kindness, enduring faith, and handy craftsmanship will continue to inspire his family and friends.

Mr. Burnett is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Fleet of Ledbetter and Evonda Sue Langston (Wayne) of Paducah, Kentucky; his sons, Mike Burnett (Nina) of Ledbetter and Randy Burnett (Patches) of Paducah; his sisters, Betty Lou Dowdy of Mayfield, Kentucky and Wyna Brown of Paducah; his six grandchildren; his three great grandchildren.

Mr. Burnett was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn Sue McBride Burnett; his parents, Romy Burnett and Theresa May Boswell Burnett; his four sisters; and his ten brothers.

All services will be private with burial at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
