
Herman Lane Lovett, Sr., 90, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 10, 2024.
Born March 18, 1934, he was the son of Harley Winston Lovett and Marjorie Gordon Lovett Smith. Herman served in the Army and was a proud World War II Veteran Tank Commander. He was a Master Mason and a member of the Alford Hardin Lodge #925 for 54 years.
Herman married the absolute love of his life JoAnn Ford Lovett on June 2, 1956. Yes! That is 67 years and 11 months. He had four children, Leisa Ann Lovett, Herman “Lane” Lovett, Jr., Jenny Lovett Watkins (Bruce), and Jill Lovett Burger (Ty). His children brought him the blessing of seven grandchildren, Alli Burger, Tiffany Streetman (Austin), Brandon Williams, Derek Williams, Matt Watkins (Allison), Mitch Watkins, and Tyler Burger (Brittany). Herman also, had twelve great-grandchildren, Kayli, Becca, Gracie, Ava, Isaiah, Benjamin, Oliver, Sophia, Tyson, Preslee, Jayden, and Kinslee.
Herman is survived by his wife, JoAnn Lovett; one daughter, Jenny Watkins; son, “Lane” Lovett; his seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, Susie Curtner (Curt), David Carroll, Shane Carroll (Raeanne), Danny Carroll (Teressa) Kimberly Kisner(Ray), Margaret Mainstruck (Chris), and J.J. Long.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Leisa Ann Lovett; daughter, Jill Lovett Burger; three sisters, Marie Morris, Patricia Long, and Delores Bradford; two nieces, Connie Morris, and Darla Bradford; and his parents, Harley Lovett and Majorie Gordon Lovett Smith.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Benton Cemetery with Bro. Rodney Groff officiating.
