
Elizabeth Maebelle Lam Morris, age 80, of Bardwell, Kentucky, passed away at home on April 13, 2024.
She was born on April 1, 1944, in Albemarle County, Virginia, to James Walker and Addie Lam.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Jack Lam; and one sister, Mabel Deane.
Maebelle is survived by her husband of 61 years, Elwood Morris; her son, Bruce Morris, and his wife, Deborah; her three grandchildren, Dr. Caleb Morris and his wife, Heather, Elisabeth Butler and her husband, Bradley, Hannah Burnett and her husband, Weston; and her five great-grandchildren, Piper Burnett, Vance Morris, Winslow Burnett, Ian Morris, and Nora Maebelle Burnett.
Maebelle loved her grandchildren, and playing with them was one of her greatest pleasures. She enjoyed her great-grandchildren as well and would read to them at every opportunity. Her eyes would light up whenever they entered the room. They were her pride and joy.
Maebelle was employed as Secretary to the Dean in the Center for Advanced Studies and later at the Provost Office at the University of Virginia, retiring in 1999 after 35 years of service.
She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and served him faithfully. Maebelle labored for the Lord, using her talent to play the organ, piano, and accordion for most of her life.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Emmanuel Holiness Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Emmanuel Holiness Church with burial to follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Bardwell. Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell is in charge of arrangements.
