John Andrew Dismukes of Paducah, KY, met His Savior, Jesus Christ on February 26, 2024. He was born to (Col-R) Dr. Julian Macon Dismukes, III and Molly Sue Martin Dismukes of Paducah, KY, on March 30, 1973, in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
John was a smart, simple, and soft-spoken man, but was always listening to others. He paid great attention to detail and genuinely cared for those in his close circle. He was loyal and especially thoughtful to those he loved most. He loved music; Bob Dylan was his favorite songwriter and he found solace and joy in playing his guitars every night. He gave his life to Christ on August 19, 2023, and then faithfully attended church with his family until he passed. John was a graduate of All Saints Episcopal School in Vicksburg, Mississippi, a Masters (Safety) graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, and a proud Sigma Chi.
John was the best friend and fiercely loving husband of fifteen years to Callie Wexler Dismukes (Paducah). They cherished many life adventures in their nineteen years together but especially loved attending concerts together as well as their shared love of music, naps, reading, and their time together as a family. His greatest accomplishments in life were his precious children; Hadley Rae, his baby girl, and John Andrew II “Andy,” his best good buddy. Nothing made him more proud than to watch his kids musical performances, soccer games, and share in moments like playing guitar with Hadley and building Legos with Andy.
He is survived by his sister Mary Rebecca Dismukes (Michael English) of Benton, KY, Father-in-law, Walt Wexler of Paducah, KY, Mother-in-law, Cherie (Paul) Johanson of Oak Ridge, NC, Sisters-in-law, Wendy (Brian) Wexler Nicks of Oak Ridge, NC, and Jessica (Matt) Hoskins of Paducah, KY, Brother-in-law, Jordan (Crystal) Wexler of Bowling Green, KY, Nieces, Astrid Dismukes, Amelia, and Annabelle English, and Berkley Wexler, Nephews, William Nicks, Paxton Wexler, and Hayes Hoskins. John is survived by many precious Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and friends who loved him dearly. His dog, Copper Dallas will miss his Daddy, too.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Dr. Julian, Jr. and Christine Dismukes and Flavious and Sylvia Martin. Also preceding him were his uncle, Philip Dismukes and his cousin, Michael Lynn.
