
Benny Green, age 84, passed away peacefully of natural causes in Naples, FL on February 10, 2024. Born on April 11, 1939 in Paducah, KY, Benny would light up the room. He loved his life, family, and friends. Benny was a lifetime resident of Paducah where he was the owner and President of B.H Green & Son, Inc. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, golfer, football fan, athlete, and family man.
Professionally, Benny was the past President of AGC (Association of General Contractors). He built many commercial buildings including Livingston County Justice Center, Livingston County High School, Paducah Country Club, Trigg County Court House, the original Paducah mall, several banks, schools, and additions to various other commercial projects, too numerous to count over the span of 50 years.
Benny graduated from PTHS in 1957 where he ran track and set the state record for the 1-mile relay, with his teammates. He then went to UT, Martin on a football scholarship. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from UT, Knoxville in 1961. Upon graduating he returned to Paducah and married his wife, Judy.
In his personal life, Benny was a beloved husband, father, and friend to many. His quick wit, charm, and sense of humor brought happiness to every gathering. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Huie Green and Pauline Green, his sister, Donna Kay Carlson, and his brother in law, Raymond Carlson, and brother in law, Ricky Walston.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Judy Green, his son, Ben Green (Terry Green) of Ledbetter, his daughter, Shannon Green Long (Karl Faerber) of Naples, FL, his granddaughter, Lydia Long of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by his step-grandchildren Ellie Hall (Jake Hall), Nick Smith, Chris Long (Emily Long), Wes Long, Kara Parham (Chase Parham), his sister and brother in law, Brenda and John Anderson, and nieces and nephews, Debbie (Robert) Flack, Kym (Michael) Haick, Jenny (John) Nelson, Allison (Michael, deceased) Kraft, Paula (Rick) Blanchard & John (Amy) Anderson, several cousins, and his beloved dog, Peach, who was his constant companion.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
A visitation will be held at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, Saturday, February 24th, from 2-4 p.m.
