Bertha Lorine Fires, 87, of Reidland, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Paducah.
She was the daughter of the late John and Mattie (Green) Waddy. Bertha was a member of Gospel Mission Worship Center. She loved reading, flowers, gardens, listening to music, birds, and butterflies. Her greatest joy was her family.
Bertha is survived by her daughters, Teresa Guess of Paducah and Janine (Brian) Russell of Covington, KY; grandchildren, Jason (Amber) Guess, Natalie (Chris) Gessel, Layla Russell and Landon Russell; great grandchildren, Hailey Gessel, McKenzie Guess, Hunter Gessel and Sydnee Gessel; a sister, Marie Lillis; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred E. Fires; infant daughter, Regina Renae Fires; four sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Pastor Rob Ison officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oak Grove Cemetery in Ledbetter.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
