With loving family at his side, a sweet soul departed this earth on Friday, December 31, 2023.
James Earl Vick (affectionately known as Jimmy by his family) was born on March 28, 1946 into a loving family. His parents were John Ralph Vick and Martha Emma May Vick. Jim graduated high school from Hickman County in 1964 in Clinton, Kentucky. He attended Oklahoma City University, the University of Kentucky and then the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Jim was an Air Crewman in the United States Navy Air and served three deployments in Vietnam. He was proud of his service though he hated war. Jim was a member of Concord United Methodist Church. He was an Engineer for CTS Speakers of Paducah and then an Engineer for South Central Bell.
Jim was loved and respected by his wife of 57 years, Donna Jackson Vick; two sons, Steve Vick (Leslie) of Kevil and Alan Vick (Amy) of Paducah; with broken hearts his four grandchildren, Dylan Vick (Kelsey), Bailey Vick, Macy Vick and Miller Vick say goodbye to their “Grandad”; two great-grandchildren, Presley and Emma Vick are the newest light of our life; two sisters-in-law, Jo Ann Vick of Auburn, Alabama and Kathy Vick of Leasburg, Missouri. He also leaves his faithful partner, always by his side, “Minnie” his little dog.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Ralph and Martha Emma May Vick; two brothers, Charles Vick and John Wayne Vick; a sister, Martha Jeanne Barnt; a brother-in-law, Dick Barnt.
Private family memorial services with Navy Military Honors will be held at a later date.
