Lady Marshals kick off district schedule with win over Murray

Tuesday at Murray High, the Lady Marshals played their first district game of the season and earned their first district win 62-31 over the Lady Tigers. It was their 11th straight win over Murray. The Lady Tigers last win over the Lady Marshals came in the 2019 First Region Championship game.

The Lady Marshals wasted no time taking a convincing 22-8 lead at the end of the first quarter fueled by five 3-pointers. Freshman Kenzlee Terry led in the quarter with 11 points and hit three of the 3-pointers. Junior Skyler Waller opened the Lady Marshals scoring with a three and finished off the quarter with her second.

Waller remained hot from behind the arc, adding three more in the second quarter and the lead was 35-18 at halftime.

Eden Sandlin, Terry and Waller each sank threes in the third quarter to bring the game total to 11. Chevelle Henson led scoring in the quarter with six points and the lead extended to 54-28.

Waller hit her seventh three of the night in the fourth quarter to bring the Lady Marshals total for the game to 12. They held Murray to a single field goal in fourth quarter that came on a 3-pointer from Mylee Smith who led the Lady Tigers with 10 points.

Waller led the Lady Marshals with 21 points, all from 3-point range. Terry finished with 18 points including four 3-pointers.

The Lady Marshals improve to 5-1 after their first loss on Saturday against Henderson County 61-34 in the Holiday Hoopla Classic at McCracken County.

Friday they will be back in Reed Conder Gymnasium to host McCracken County (3-1) at 6:00.
