Mr. Don Pat “Red Dog” Emerson, age 74, of Wingo passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at his residence.
He was of the Baptist faith, a member of the National Rifle Association, an avid sports fan, and a longtime coach to many children. He was also a retired employee of Continental General Tire and a U.S. Army veteran having served during Vietnam.
Mr. Emerson is survived by his wife, Jackie Evans Emerson; one daughter, Misty Emerson of Mayfield, KY; one sister, Glenda Holifield of Mayfield, KY; five grandchildren, Laken Emerson, Logan Emerson, Emersyn Rodgers, Everly Rodgers and Lia England; and one niece, April Leab of Mayfield, KY.
He was preceded in death by one son, Marty Emerson; his parents, William Glen “Wimpy” and Mignon Hicks Emerson; his paternal grandparents, Glover and Hazel Emerson; and his maternal grandparents, John and Georgia Hicks.
A memorial visitation for Mr. Don Pat “Red Dog” Emerson will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY.
