Eastbound entry Ramp to Remain Closed – Expect multiple traffic shifts
along KY 305 in work zone
PADUCAH, Ky. (July 31, 2023) — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to reopen the I-24 eastbound exit ramp at the Interstate 24/KY 305 Paducah Exit 3 interchange this morning.
The eastbound exit ramp at I-24 Exit 3 is expected to reopen at approximately 7 a.m., CDT, today – a week earlier than expected.
The eastbound entry ramp at I-24 Exit 3 will remain closed for about another week to allow 10-inches of new concrete pavement to be added to the ramp connecting points with KY 305/Cairo Road in the interchange. To enter Interstate 24 eastbound, motorists in the Exit 3 work zone will continue to self-detour to I-24 Exit 4 via KY 998/Olivet Church Rd and U.S. 60 East.
Opening of the eastbound exit ramp will bring a number of additional changes to the work zone along KY 305/Cairo Road through the interchange -including several traffic shifts starting today.
The contractor will be starting some additional work at the Paducah end of the work zone that will require a shift in traffic along KY 305/Cairo Road. There will be additional intermittent traffic shifts to allow diamond grinding along the project area.
Motorists should use extra caution as traffic may be shifted at several locations in the work zone and those shift points will change from time to time this week to facilitate the work.
Both I-24 Exit 3 westbound ramps are open to normal traffic flow. There will be no impact to traffic on the main line of I-24.
The traffic control in this work zone is set up to assure the safety of workers, the safety of the driving public, and maintain access to businesses around the I-24 Paducah Exit 3 Interchange.
The target completion date for all pavement work at Exit 3 is August 31, 2023.
KYTC District 1 will attempt to provide timely updates as work progresses.
