On 2-5-2023 Deputies received a request for a welfare check at a residence in the Palma community. This welfare check resulted in a search warrant being issued for the residence that led into a large drug investigation.
As a result of this investigation Austin Johnson age 40 of Benton was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree, Trafficking in Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, Trafficking in Controlled Substance within 1,000 feet of a school, Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia/ Possession.
Johnson was previously charged in a collision investigation on 2-2-2023 that resulted in Johnson found to be in possession of illegal drugs. Johnson was charged with DUI 1st, Possession of Controlled Substance (methamphetamine) 1st Degree and Drug Paraphernalia / possess
On 2-6-2023 this investigation continued resulting in more illegal drugs being located. Johnson received two charges of Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree, Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree and Illegal possession of Legend Drug.
Johnson was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a Court of Law.
