Harlan County got on the board first with a free throw but that was followed by three straight Marshall County 3-pointers, two from Briley English and one from Miyah Davis for a 9-3 lead. The lead was short-lived as the Lady Black Bears went on a 10-0 run to lead 13-9.

Another three from Davis cut the Harlan County lead to one but the Lady Black Bears scored three more points to lead 16-12 at the end of the first quarter.

The Lady Marshals went on to out-score Harlan County 19-8 in the second quarter that was highlighted by two offensive rebounds and put-backs by Langhi for a 31-24 halftime lead.

Leading 45-32 going into the final quarter, Langhi scored five of the Lady Marshals 10 points in the quarter to lead them with 28 points in the game to an 11 point victory.

Head Coach Joseph Simmons in post-game comments said that adjustments had to be made right before the game with a decision to have Paige Henson sit out, taking precautions with an injury suffered in Tuesday’s game. Simmons said although he hates to see any injuries, it has given some of the young players valuable playing time, gaining confidence which is always key down the stretch of the season to tournament time.

Led by Langhi with 28 points, English had 11, Davis 9, Kat Howard 4, Nikki Fehrenbacher 2 and Tera Colson 1. Harlan County was led by Blair Green with 14 points.

The Lady Marshals will be back in action on January 4th at Webster County.
