Eugene Franklin (Gene) Nelson, age 77, of Booneville, AR, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
Gene was born October 15, 1945 in Howell, MI to William George and Lucy Mae Emmons Nelson.
He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and loved the Lord. He was a gifted musician who sang lead and harmony and played bass guitar most of his life and was happiest when he was playing and singing in his or other bands. He was a Land Surveyor by trade which he said helped support his love of music and the ability to play and sing it.
He is preceded in death by his above mentioned parents, his brother, George Nelson and sister-in-law, Billy Zoe Nelson.
He is survived by his wife, Rhea Kelly Nelson of the home, his son, Aaron Nelson (Theresa) of Charlotte, Tennessee; his daughter, Nikki Nelson Welcher (David) of Columbia, Tennessee; and his stepson, J. Lee Davis (Diane) of Kentucky; brothers Bill Nelson (Marge), Doug Nelson, and sister-in-law Wendy Nelson all of Booneville area; 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews; special family friends, music brothers Vince Sexton, Bill Campbell , Tim Goff; sisters he never had Shirley, Ruby, and Jan and his cowboy “adopted son” Gary.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Roberts Funeral Home in Booneville, AR.
Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington.
Graveside services will be held at 3:30 pm on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Oakwood Cemetery in Clinton, Kentucky with Rev.
Kent Jewell officiating.
