This week’s warm spell builds into the weekend with temperatures that could eclipse several records.
National Weather Service data for Paducah shows a record high on Saturday of 66 degrees set in 1991, but this weekend’s forecast is for a Saturday high in the mid-70s. Sunday’s high also threatens to surpass the mark of 72, set in 1948.
Even the morning lows look to be some of the warmest ever. As of 5am Friday, Paducah’s temperature of 57 degrees was warmer than the highest low recorded, 56 degrees in 1949. Saturday and Sunday’s morning lows are expected to be 60 degrees, well above the current standards. Saturday’s warmest low for the date is 53 degrees (1975), and Sunday’s mark is 52 degrees (1984).
The extremely warm temperatures come with a price; the heat in the atmosphere is expected to brew up Sunday storms with gusty winds and around two inches of rain. Storms could become severe on Sunday.
