(MURRAY, Ky.) — The Murray State University Board of Regents approved the creation of two new auxiliary enterprises during its Sept. 18 meeting, aimed at accelerating growth and supporting the university’s long-term success.

The board established Racer Enterprises, LLC, and Racer Sports & Entertainment, LLC, giving the university new vehicles for developing partnerships and opportunities as it continues investing in the student experience, academic profile and future growth.

Racer Enterprises will focus on the university side, creating pathways to meet current and future demands in higher education. The enterprise is meant to drive innovation and strategic investment benefiting students, faculty and staff while raising Murray State’s national academic profile.

Racer Sports & Entertainment will center on Racer Athletics, supporting student-athletes and teams while working to enhance the fan experience. The enterprise will also lead development of the Racer Entertainment Village, envisioned as a year-round live-work-play-cheer destination for campus, the community and visitors, with an eye toward regional economic growth.

“These new auxiliary enterprises represent an important step forward in our efforts to position Murray State for continued growth, innovation and national recognition,” Murray State President Dr. Ron K. Patterson said. “By creating new opportunities to invest in our students, strengthen our academic and athletic programs, enhance the fan experience and engage with our community, we are building a foundation for the university’s long-term success.”

University officials plan to work with campus leaders to identify additional areas that could benefit from similar auxiliary enterprises as part of Murray State’s broader strategic growth efforts.
