(WEST PADUCAH, Ky.) — Marshall County needed the extra math to get past county rival McCracken County on Thursday night at Mercy Health Field, with the Marshals surviving in penalty kicks after 90 minutes couldn’t separate the two sides.

Caysom Graham found the back of the net for Marshall County on his lone shot on goal, while JP Gallagher scored for McCracken County off an assist from Carson Crane. The two goals were enough to lock the match level through regulation and force extra time.

Neither team could find a winner before the final whistle, sending the district clash to penalty kicks, where Marshall County pulled it out.

Marshals goalkeeper Carson Lovett was busy all night, turning away seven of the eight shots he faced for an .875 save percentage between the posts.

Marshall County improves to 8-1-1 on the season. McCracken County falls to 5-6-1.

The win clinches the regular season district crown and assures the Orange of a regional tournament berth next month.  Marshall County returns to action on Saturday morning at 11 in Draffenville against Louisville Trinity.
