(PADUCAH, Ky.) — Overnight westbound detours continue this week on Interstate 24 in Marshall County, including tonight and Friday, as crews mill and pave a stretch of the interstate between Exit 31 (Grand Rivers) and Exit 27 (Kentucky Dam/Calvert City).
The detours are part of an ongoing work zone on I-24 and will run nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Additional westbound detours are scheduled for next week, from Monday, Sept. 14, through Thursday, Sept. 17. All work is weather-dependent.
During the closures, westbound drivers will be directed to exit at Exit 31, follow KY 453 and U.S. 62, then re-enter I-24 westbound at Exit 27.
The work zone spans from the I-24/Exit 27 interchange at U.S. 62 to the I-24 Tennessee River Bridge at the Marshall-Livingston County line, where a reduced 55 mph speed limit is in effect.
Motorists are urged to watch for law enforcement and flaggers directing traffic, allow extra travel time, and use caution through the area.
