(CALVERT CITY, Ky.) – Marshall County motorists have two roadway changes to watch for this week.
Overnight detours begin Tuesday, Sept. 8, on Interstate 24 westbound between Exit 31 (Grand Rivers) and Exit 27 (Kentucky Dam/Calvert City) as crews continue milling and paving work in the area. Detours will run 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly through Friday, Sept. 11, with westbound traffic taking Exit 31 to KY 453 and U.S. 62 before re-entering I-24 at Exit 27. The work is weather-dependent, and a reduced 55 mph speed limit remains in effect through the zone, which stretches from the Exit 27 interchange to the Tennessee River Bridge at the Marshall-Livingston County line.
Separately, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has lowered the speed limit to 45 mph on U.S. 62 near mile point 3 in Possum Trot. New signs went up Tuesday, and the reduced limit is now active and enforceable. About 6,030 vehicles use that stretch of U.S. 62 daily.
Drivers in both areas should slow down, watch for flaggers and law enforcement, and allow extra travel time.
