(DRAFFENVILLE, Ky.) — Marshall County High School dropped its home opener Friday night, falling 42-10 to Caldwell County despite a productive night through the air.
Junior quarterback Jesse Kinsall completed 15 of 25 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns, while backup Justin Price added a pair of completions for 3 yards. As a team, the Marshals finished 17 of 27 through the air for 180 yards.
Junior receiver Jett Jones was Kinsall’s top target and the offense’s biggest weapon, hauling in six catches for 138 yards — an average of 23 yards per reception. Sylas Winding chipped in three catches for 35 yards, and Rylan Shelton added three receptions as well.
On the ground, the Marshals moved the ball behind a committee approach. Reece Reid led the way with 16 yards on four carries and punched in Marshall County’s lone rushing touchdown, while Carter Jones added 20 yards on three attempts. Kinsall also proved dangerous with his legs, picking up 27 yards on three scrambles.
Kicker Brayden York accounted for the Marshals’ final points, connecting on his lone field-goal attempt and adding an extra point. Maddox Konrad handled punting duties, firing off five kicks.
Defensively, Marshall County couldn’t slow down a potent Caldwell County offense, but individual efforts stood out. Carson Fogg paced the unit with five solo tackles and five total stops. Jasper Jones was disruptive up front, recording a sack, a tackle for loss and a fumble recovery. Jaxon Warner and Andre King each finished with three tackles, and Brayden Day and Nolyn Ingles also chipped in with multi-tackle performances. As a team, the Marshals racked up 52 total tackles.
The Marshals (1-1) will look forward to being back at Carroll Traylor Stadium/Jim Shelton Field this Friday night with a matchup with Trigg County (1-1).
