(MURRAY, Ky.) — Murray State Athletics has broken ground on the third phase of upgrades at Johnny Reagan Field at Taylor Family Park, adding premium suites, an expanded press box and new fan amenities to the home of Racer Baseball.
The latest phase includes two new buildings, premium suites, a club space, upgraded concessions and new on-site restroom facilities. University officials say the additions are meant to modernize the ballpark for student-athletes, coaches, fans, corporate partners and visitors.
“We are excited about the continued evolution of Johnny Reagan Field at Taylor Family Park and what these enhancements will mean for the entire Murray State community,” Murray State President Dr. Ron Patterson said, adding that the project builds on the university’s partnership with the Taylor family.
David Taylor, whose family has backed the ballpark’s development, said the project marks another step forward for the university and its athletic programs and reaffirmed the family’s commitment to the direction set by Patterson and Athletics Director Nico Yantko.
The premium suites are expected to open new hospitality options for donors and corporate partners, giving the athletic department additional revenue streams. Yantko said the department has worked to position the ballpark as a top-tier facility that matches the program’s growing ambitions, calling the Taylor family’s continued support central to that effort.
New concessions and restrooms are also part of the plan, addressing game-day needs after the baseball program set attendance records last season.
The project will also revamp the ballpark’s entrances, adding archways and Racer-branded signage intended to give the park a more distinct identity for fans and recruits arriving on gameday.
Head baseball coach Dan Skirka said the investment sends a message to players about the program’s direction and will strengthen recruiting while improving the experience for fans, thanking the university, athletics administration and the Taylor family for their continued support.
The new phase follows two earlier rounds of construction. Phase 1, completed earlier this year, added new turf, a new scoreboard and The Murray Bank videoboard in right field. Phase 2 began construction on the Jim & Sue Cash Baseball Clubhouse, a more than 3,000-square-foot facility behind the right field wall that includes a locker room, player lounge, team meeting room and training room.
Murray State officials said further details on construction timelines, premium seating availability and completion dates will be released at a later date.
