(PADUCAH, Ky.) — Paducah Police have arrested a local business owner accused of taking tens of thousands of dollars from customers for home improvement work that was never done.
Detectives began investigating Hometown Decorating after receiving multiple reports over the past several months. According to police, owner Bryson Wells accepted payments from customers for cabinets and flooring that were never ordered or delivered. Customers told investigators Wells stopped communicating with them once payment was made, and no work was ever completed. The business has since closed.
Investigators say they have identified approximately $45,300 in cabinets and flooring that customers paid for but never received.
Wells, 27, of Paducah, was arrested August 13 without incident and booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail. He is charged with theft by unlawful taking over $10,000 but under $1 million.
The investigation is ongoing, and detectives believe there may be additional victims. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Samantha Taylor at 270-444-8553.
