(MURRAY, Ky.) — Murray State Athletics announced Tuesday that Tommy and Sandy Draffen have donated $2.25 million to the department, with the gift funding a new premium club and suite level inside Rudolph Family Field at Roy Stewart Stadium.

The space will be named the Draffen Family Founders Club and will feature a common area with a bar, premium food offerings and upscale seating. On non-game days, the facility will serve as a student-athlete dining hub and external event space.

“This extraordinary gift reflects a deep belief in our mission and a commitment to creating opportunities that will positively impact generations of Racer student-athletes, alumni and fans,” University President Dr. Ron Patterson said. “The continued support we receive from the Draffen Family will leave a lasting legacy on our athletics department and we are incredibly grateful for this $2.25 million investment in the future of Murray State Athletics.”

The gift is the latest in a growing relationship between the Draftfen family and the university. A previous donation funded the renovation of the football stadium weight room, which was subsequently named the Draffen Family Performance Center.

“Tommy and Sandy consistently go above and beyond for Racer Athletics, playing a crucial role in our ability to position ourselves to be one of the premiere athletic departments in the country,” Director of Athletics Nico Yantko said. “Their unwavering support allows us to continue competing at a high level in everything that we do and we are extremely grateful for their commitment to our long-term vision.”

Tommy Draffen said the couple is eager to see the project benefit fans and student-athletes for years ahead.

“Sandy and I are thrilled to invest in a project that will elevate the experience for Racer student-athletes, coaches and fans for generations to come,” Draffen said. “We strongly believe in the new vision and momentum surrounding Racer Athletics and are excited to play a small role in building something that will benefit all of Racer Nation.”

The Draffen gift pushes Murray State Athletics to $46.75 million raised as part of its Leading the Pack campaign, a comprehensive $100 million fundraising initiative targeting student-athlete success and wellness, revenue share, competitive resources and new facilities. The total has been reached through 17 seven-figure gifts since the campaign launched. More information is available at goracers.com.
