(CALVERT CITY, Ky.) — Despite threatening skies and a forecast that called for rain throughout the weekend, 21 competitive skeet shooters from four states gathered at the Calvert City Gun Club over Memorial Day weekend for the Cypress Creek Open Skeet Shoot — and the weather cooperated just enough to crown a dominant champion.

Barry Stevenson of Calvert City walked away as the High Overall winner, shattering an impressive 398 out of 400 targets across all events and claiming victories in the 12-gauge, 20-gauge, and 28-gauge individual competitions.

Stevenson’s closest competitor throughout the day was Dr. Kenneth Ford of Sharpe, Ky., who finished as High Overall Runner Up with 392/400 and proved to be a force across multiple disciplines — earning a win in Doubles and placing in the top two in three additional events. Mike Galloway of Dexter, Mo., rounded out the High Overall podium with 391/400.

The competition required shoot-off tiebreakers in both the 28-gauge and .410 events to settle the final standings, underscoring the level of marksmanship on display.

Stevenson and Ford also teamed up to sweep the 2-Man Team event, claiming all six team competitions.
