(PADUCAH, Ky.) — A Paducah man is behind bars after Kentucky State Police say he filed a false report against his former nanny in an apparent effort to intimidate her ahead of ongoing legal proceedings in which she is set to testify against him.
Ryan Conn, 41, was arrested Monday, May 25, and booked into the McCracken County Jail on three charges: false report of an incident to law enforcement, intimidating a participant in the legal process, and retaliating against a participant in the legal process.
According to KSP Post 1 detectives, Conn approached investigators on March 25 and claimed his former nanny had stolen and damaged property at his Paducah home in 2024. He further alleged she had hosted unauthorized parties at the residence while his family was away and consumed his alcohol without permission.
Investigators say the story quickly unraveled. A review of text message conversations revealed that Conn had, in fact, given the woman permission to host the gatherings and take the alcohol — directly contradicting his own allegations.
Detectives say the motive behind the false report became clear when they identified who Conn had accused. His former nanny is the victim in an active criminal case against Conn and is also the plaintiff in a separate civil lawsuit against him.
A warrant was issued for Conn’s arrest on May 21, and troopers located and took him into custody four days later.
The investigation remains open and is being led by KSP Detective William Propes.
