(LYON COUNTY, Ky.) — The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has released details of more than a dozen incidents occurring between May 15 and May 24, 2026, ranging from traffic collisions to arrests on assault and felony charges.
Juvenile Airlifted After Motorcycle Crash
A 13-year-old from Cadiz was seriously injured on May 15 after losing control of a mini-bike in a gravel driveway on Dulaney Road just before noon. The juvenile was airlifted by Air Evac to an out-of-state hospital. The Eddyville Fire Department, Lyon County EMS, and Lyon County Emergency Management responded to the scene alongside Deputy Bobby Beeler.
Hopkinsville Man Faces Felony Charge After Repeat Violations
One of the more serious cases of the reporting period involved Cameron Sanders, 20, of Hopkinsville, who was arrested multiple times in just days.
Sanders was first arrested May 19 on a domestic assault charge after deputies responded to a disturbance on Hylan Drive. He was accused of assaulting a juvenile family member and lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
Two days later, on May 21, Sheriff Brent White spotted Sanders leaving a residence on Hylan Drive that he had been court-ordered to stay away from. Sanders, listed this time as 18 years old in the report, was stopped and arrested on charges of driving on a DUI-suspended license, failure to wear a seat belt, and contempt of court for violating conditions of his recent release.
By 3 a.m. on May 22, Deputy Beeler’s continuing investigation led to Sanders being charged with the Class D felony of intimidating a participant in the legal process. Authorities allege he assaulted his prior victim again, made threats against witnesses, and attempted to discourage cooperation with law enforcement — all within hours of being released from custody. Sanders remains held under a no-bond court order.
Brawl in Kuttawa Sends Teen to Hospital; Man Charged with Child Abuse
A large fight broke out on the evening of May 23 at the corner of 4th Street and Lake Barkley Drive in Kuttawa, drawing deputies, state troopers, Eddyville Police, and Forest Service law enforcement to the scene.
According to investigators, a group of young adults and teenagers driving through the area exchanged words with tenants at a nearby rental residence. On a second pass, an object was thrown at one of the vehicles, prompting occupants to stop and get out. A physical altercation involving multiple people then erupted.
Three people were injured. A 16-year-old male was transported by Lyon County EMS to Mercy Hospital in Paducah; two others refused medical transport. About six people were initially detained, most of them juveniles or young adults, before being released to adult caretakers.
Jason L. Walker, 46, of Ashland City, Tennessee, was charged with fourth-degree assault (child abuse) in connection with the attack on the hospitalized teenager. He was interviewed, charged, and released with a June court date in Lyon District Court.
The sheriff’s office also addressed misinformation that spread on social media following the incident, where a Lyon County High School athletic coach was incorrectly identified as one of the suspects. Investigators confirmed the coach was not in Lyon County at the time and had no involvement. The person misidentified as the coach was, in fact, Walker.

DUI Arrest Follows Assault Call
On the evening of May 23, deputies were called to an assault complaint on Lawwill Road. Before officers arrived, a second 911 call reported that one of the involved parties — described as intoxicated — had fled in a GMC pickup truck.
Sheriff White and an Eddyville Police officer tracked the vehicle to a campground off Waschick Road, where they detained the driver, David L. Warner, 57, of Kuttawa. Deputy Beeler charged Warner with DUI (third offense) and operating on a suspended or revoked license. Kentucky State Police separately charged Warner with assault in connection with the Lawwill Road incident. That investigation remains ongoing.
Other Notable Incidents
May 16 — A two-vehicle collision on US 62 in Kuttawa occurred when a truck and trailer attempted a U-turn, leading Brian Moodie, 64, of Grand Rivers, to collide with the trailer. No injuries were reported.
May 19 — A Princeton woman, Cynthia Attaguile, 38, ran off KY 818 North and struck an embankment after encountering standing water at an intersection. No injuries were reported.
May 19 — Hayden Schenk, 18, of Fredonia, was arrested for trespassing on private property in Old Eddyville — his second such offense within two months. His vehicle was impounded.
May 20 — Deputy Josh Travis served a Hopkins County bench warrant on Edward Bell, 26, of Earlington, a fugitive wanted in connection with an assault case. Bell awaits extradition.
May 21 — Chief Deputy Sam Adams investigated a commercial truck collision at a Kuttawa business parking lot and a separate sideswipe collision on US 62 West. No injuries were reported in either crash.
May 21 — Three vehicles struck a commercial truck tire that had fallen onto I-24 near the 37-mile marker. Sheriff White investigated two of the collisions; a third was handled by Kentucky State Police. No injuries were reported.
May 24 — Karlee Pecka, 31, of Newburgh, Indiana, was arrested at a campground off KY 93 South just after midnight after causing a disturbance. She was charged with first-degree disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
