Woman Cited After Pulling Into Path of Oncoming Car on US 45

(GRAVES COUNTY, Ky.) — A two-vehicle crash sent two people to the hospital Monday afternoon after a woman pulled into the path of an oncoming car at the intersection of US 45 North and KY 849.

The collision occurred at approximately 2:53 p.m. on May 6 when Maria O. Garcia Rodriguez, 39, of Hickory, was heading westbound on KY 849 in a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe and entered the intersection in front of a southbound 2011 Dodge Avenger.

The Avenger was driven by Tony R. McReynolds, 66, of Sedalia. After the two vehicles collided at the intersection, Garcia Rodriguez’s Tahoe ran off the southwest shoulder and struck two road signs.

A passenger in McReynolds’ vehicle, Susan D. Gossum, 52, of Sedalia, was transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center by Mayfield/Graves County EMS with suspected minor injuries. McReynolds was also taken to the hospital by private vehicle. Garcia Rodriguez was not injured.

Garcia Rodriguez was charged with No Operator’s License.

Chief Deputy Jeremy Prince of the Graves County Sheriff’s Office led the investigation and was assisted by Deputy Zac Smith, the Melber Fire Department, Mayfield/Graves County EMS, and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Department of Highways.
