(OWENSBORO, Ky.) – New Covenant Christian Academy’s high school golfers
brought home the school’s first golf championship!
NCCA won the KCAA Invitational on Monday, April 27, at Windridge Country
Club. Freshman Finley Cunningham of Dexter was the top overall golfer with his score
of 78. Junior Jon Ray of Hardin shot an 86, sophomore Ben Taylor of Murray had his
personal-best 100, and freshman Frazier Clark of Murray was the team’s fourth-best with a 107. Junior Eli Stanger of Murray also competed.
With a 371, the Lions won over Veritas Christian Academy from Lexington by about 20 strokes. The KCAA Invitational is the conference’s signature event before the state
tournament and featured six of the top seven teams from last year’s state tournament.
The Kentucky Christian Athletic Association is committed to the growth of the individual student, spiritually, mentally, and physically. Excellence through Christian
competition at the highest possible level is our goal.
This is NCCA’s second year to have a golf team. The golf team is coached by Greg Taylor of Murray, Kory Cunningham of Dexter, and Daniel Gachoka of Almo. Also
on the team are middle schoolers Evan Brown of Benton, Parker Hopkins of Murray, and Lyric Richardson of Murray.
NCCA enrolls students from preschool through high school. In addition to golf,
extracurriculars include archery, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, FFA, track, and volleyball. Students are equipped with knowledge, skills, and Biblical truth to fulfill their God-given purpose.
