(MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky.) — The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office made more than a dozen arrests throughout April, with charges ranging from drug possession and domestic violence to a high-speed chase on Interstate 69.
The most dramatic incident occurred on April 20, when deputies pulled over Tyerra Walker, 22, of Paducah after she blew past a deputy on I-69 at speeds topping 100 mph. Walker initially refused to stop, prompting a brief pursuit before law enforcement intercepted her at the exit 43 ramp near Benton. She was charged with speeding 26 mph or more over the limit, reckless driving, and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
A drug arrest followed on April 28, when deputies made contact with Michael Alonso II, 33, of Murray on Wadesboro Road North. According to the sheriff’s office, Alonso attempted to destroy evidence during the encounter. He was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance — methamphetamine — and tampering with physical evidence.
One of the more unusual cases involved Zachary Burrell, 41, of Benton, who was arrested twice within the span of a day. Deputies first stopped Burrell on April 19 on 5th Street for careless driving and running a red light, after which his vehicle was towed. The following day, Burrell reportedly showed up at the wrecker service claiming to retrieve belongings, then drove off in the vehicle without paying the tow bill or providing valid documentation. Deputies tracked him down at an RV park in Draffenville and arrested him a second time, adding a charge of defrauding a secured creditor.
Also in mid-April, Aaron Flota, 47, of Gilbertsville was arrested on April 17 after deputies responded to a disturbance on Gilbertsville Highway. Flota faces charges of menacing, third-degree terroristic threatening, third-degree criminal trespassing, and fourth-degree assault. The following day, Riannon McCoy, 36, also of Gilbertsville, was arrested on a fourth-degree domestic violence assault charge after a disturbance call on Hawkeye Road.
On April 25, Billie Farvour, 46, of Loris, South Carolina, was arrested following a collision on US 68. Deputies determined she was driving with a suspended license and no insurance. Farvour also had an outstanding warrant out of South Carolina, though authorities there declined to extradite her. She faces multiple traffic-related charges locally.
Other arrests during the month included Donald Thorn, 51, of Gilbertsville, taken into custody on April 25 on an outstanding Livingston County warrant for terroristic threatening and first-degree criminal mischief; John Cox, 45, of Benton, found passed out in a ditch on April 19 and charged with public intoxication for his own safety; Hayden Wade, 25, of Benton, picked up April 19 on a Graves District Court bench warrant for failure to appear; Damian Flores, 29, of Burkesville, arrested April 27 on warrants out of Adair County for contempt of court and unpaid fines; and Anthony Wallace, 67, of Gilbertsville, arrested April 15 on a Livingston County contempt of court warrant.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
