(CALVERT CITY, Ky.) — Six Kentucky skeet shooters have been selected to National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA) All-American Teams, with three of the honorees representing the Calvert City Gun Club in western Kentucky.
The selections recognize the top competitive skeet shooters in the country across various divisions and skill classifications, and Kentucky’s contingent made a strong showing this year.
Leading the Calvert City Gun Club’s trio is Gavin Stevenson of Benton, who earned a spot on the Triple Sub 2nd Team — a remarkable achievement made all the more impressive as it marks his fifth career All-American Team selection. Joining him from the club is Ken Ford of Sharpe, who claimed Senior Honorable Mention and Class A Honorable Mention honors in what is a milestone year for the veteran shooter — his 23rd All-American Team selection. Rounding out the Calvert City contingent is Daren Moore of Possum Trot, who was named to the Class D First Team in his first-ever All-American Team selection.
Among the other Kentucky honorees, Larry Israel of Fort Thomas earned one of the most prestigious distinctions, landing on the Senior Veteran 1st Team. Les Lala of Louisville was named to the Open 2nd Team, and Jeff Pope of Crittenden received Sub Senior 2nd Team honors.
The selections highlight a deep and geographically diverse competitive skeet shooting community across the Commonwealth, from the western Purchase region to the Cincinnati suburbs.
The National Skeet Shooting Association oversees competitive skeet shooting in the United States and annually names All-American Teams recognizing the nation’s top performers in each division and classification.
