(PADUCAH, Ky.) — The McCracken County Coroner’s Office, with the expertise of the Office of the State Medical Examiner and the Kentucky State Police Division of Forensic Services, has confirmed the identity of human skeletal remains discovered in a shallow grave on Broyles Avenue in December 2025.
Following extensive forensic analysis, including DNA testing, the remains have been positively identified as those of Dillard Howery. Notification of next of kin has been completed.
This identification is the result of a coordinated investigative effort involving multiple agencies. The McCracken County Coroner’s Office extends its sincere appreciation to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, with special recognition to Detective Lindsey Miller for her dedication and investigative work throughout this case.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr. Howery’s death remains ongoing. No additional details are being released at this time.
Plans are underway for a graveside service with military rites for Mr. Howery in which the public will be invited to pay their respects.
