(PADUCAH, Ky.) — A 22-year-old Paducah man is dead after stabbing a probation and parole officer during a home visit in McCracken County Friday morning, according to Kentucky State Police.
The incident unfolded around 11:50 a.m. CDT on March 27 when three officers from the Department of Corrections, Probation and Parole arrived at a residence at 2821 Marquees Drive to conduct a routine supervision check.
At the home, officers encountered Rayshawn Tucker — a man unconnected to the visit — who allegedly produced a knife and stabbed one of the officers. Two officers responded by drawing their agency-issued firearms and opening fire, striking Tucker.
Emergency personnel transported Tucker to Baptist Health Paducah, where he was pronounced dead.
Two of the three officers sustained injuries during the confrontation and were taken to area hospitals, where both were treated and released. A third officer was not hurt.
The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team has taken over the investigation at the request of KSP Post 1 in Mayfield, a standard procedure when law enforcement officers are involved in a shooting.
The investigation remains ongoing. No further details have been released.
