(LOUISVILLE, Ky.)-Marshall County Special Olympics athletes traveled to Louisville this weekend to compete in “March Magic,” the Special Olympics Kentucky State Basketball Tournament, held March 14-15 at MidAmerica Sports Center.

The annual tournament brought together more than 40 teams from across the state, all of whom earned their spots through a series of regional qualifying tournaments held in February in Bowling Green, Florence, and Elizabethtown. Marshall County’s athletes punched their tickets to Louisville through that qualifying process before making their mark on the state stage.

On Sunday, Marshall 1 fell 22-15 in the B Division State Championship game, earning a silver medal in a hard-fought battle. Despite the loss, the team’s run to the title game stands as a remarkable achievement among the field of competitors from across Kentucky.

Marshall 3 also earned a silver medal, finishing second in the 1A Skills competition. Marshall 4 topped the podium — claiming gold in the B Skills division!

The performances reflect the dedication and athleticism of Marshall County’s Special Olympics program and the coaches and volunteers who support it.
