(BENTON, Ky)A Virginia man is facing fraud and identity theft charges after allegedly attempting to conduct a bank transaction using fictitious identification documents, then fleeing from officers before being apprehended nearby.

Benton Police Department Sergeant Cole arrested Dylan Anderson, of Virginia, on Monday following an incident at a financial institution in the Benton area. Bank staff alerted officers after a customer presented identification that appeared suspicious. Investigators determined that both the Mississippi driver’s license and Social Security card Anderson allegedly provided were fraudulent and did not belong to him.

When Benton Police officers moved to detain Anderson, he fled the bank on foot. A deputy pursued him across Poplar Street, ultimately apprehending him near East 6th Street. A Taser was deployed during the arrest. No serious injuries were reported.

The Benton Police Department thanked the Marshall County, Kentucky Sheriff’s Office for their assistance during the incident.

Anderson now faces fraud and identity theft-related charges.
