(PADUCAH, Ky.) — The West Kentucky Community and Technical College (WKCTC) Board of Directors will meet Tuesday, March 3, 2026, to address a critical slate of legislative updates and upcoming campus milestones. The regular session is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Anderson Technical Building and is open to the public.
A primary focus of the meeting will be two major pieces of legislation currently moving through the Kentucky General Assembly:
- House Bill 619: This bill proposes significant structural changes to the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS), including increasing the Board of Regents to 17 members, mandating the appointment of a system-wide chief financial officer, and requiring legislative approval for the creation or reduction of any college campuses or programs.
- House Bill 500: As the state’s biennial budget bill, this legislation outlines funding for postsecondary education through 2028, including potential salary increases for state employees and adjustments to the Kentucky Employee Health Plan.
The board will also review a President’s Report detailing recent enrollment trends and student support initiatives following the opening of summer and fall 2026 registration on March 1. Other business includes an update on campus operations, advancement initiatives, and the approval of minutes from the Nov. 20, 2025, joint meeting.
Looking ahead to the spring semester’s conclusion, members will discuss preparations for:
- The Regional Educators Awards and Scholarship Program (REASP): The ninth annual ceremony is set for March 26, 2026, to honor standout area educators.
- Spring Commencement: Graduation ceremonies will be held at the Clemens Fine Arts Center in May, with the Intent to Walk deadline approaching on March 27.
