(DRAFFENVILLE, Ky.) — Marshall County’s Lady Marshals wasted little time making a statement in the opening round of the Fourth District Tournament Tuesday night, rolling past the Murray Lady Tigers 57-28 at Reed Conder Gymnasium.
The victory was a dominant, wire-to-wire effort from Marshall County, which shot 40.8 percent from the field and got balanced contributions across the roster in a convincing 29-point win.
Senior Addi Wall led all scorers with 21 points, going 9-of-12 from two-point range and adding three free throws on four attempts. Fellow senior Rylee Teague was nearly as dangerous from deep, connecting on four of five three-point attempts as part of a 12-point night. Senior Eden Sandlin rounded out the double-digit scorers with 14 points, including a three-pointer, and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds to anchor the Lady Marshals on the boards.
Junior Kenzlee Terry chipped in six points and grabbed seven rebounds, while junior Rylan Darnall added five points and four boards. Freshman Kaomi Lunsford and sophomore Jessica Reed each contributed two points, both going 1-of-1 from the floor.
As a team, Marshall County hit 20 of 49 field goal attempts and made 6 of 21 shots from beyond the arc. The Lady Marshals went 11-of-16 at the free throw line for 68.8 percent. Marshall County outrebounded Murray with 24 total boards, with Sandlin’s 11 rebounds leading the way.
The Lady Marshals (21-4) earn a trip to the First Region Tournament next week at CFSB Center, while they will play for the Fourth District Championship against Calloway County (29-2) tonight at 6:30 p.m. The Hendrickson Wealth and Retirement Pregame Show begins at 5:55 p.m. on WCBL Sports.
