(DRAFFENVILLE, Ky.) — Marshall County (20-8) wasted no time making a statement in the Fourth District Tournament, beating Christian Fellowship (21-10) 75-40 on Monday to advance in convincing fashion.
The Marshals shot a blistering 64.4 percent from the field, connecting on 29 of 45 attempts, and knocked down 13 of 22 three-point attempts (59.1%) to pull away from the Eagles with relative ease.
Junior Matthew Langhi led all scorers with 19 points, going 7-of-9 on two-point attempts and adding a three-pointer while hitting both of his free throw attempts. Senior Neyland Jezik was right behind him with 18 points, connecting on six of his eight three-point attempts. Senior Ryan Stokes rounded out the top scorers with 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting.
Freshman Braxton Burnham chipped in 10 points in a strong showing off the bench, going 2-of-4 from the field with two threes and converting both of his free throw attempts.
Langhi was also a force on the glass, pulling down a team-high seven rebounds. Seniors Jezik and Stokes each grabbed three boards, as did junior Kruz Powell.
Marshall County shot just 50 percent from the free throw line, going 4-of-8, but the Marshals’ dominant shooting performance from the field more than compensated. Fifteen players saw action in the win.
With the win, the Marshals advance to the championship of the Fourth District Tournament on Thursday night at 6:30. The Hendrickson Wealth & Retirement will begin at 5:55 p.m. on WCBL Sports.
