(BENTON, Ky.)-Marshall County Schools is encouraging parents to attend a free educational event focused on infant sleep safety next month.
The event, scheduled for Tuesday, March 24 at 5:30 p.m. at the Marshall County Public Library, will feature a screening of “Meant to be Close,” a film campaign designed to help new parents make informed decisions about safe sleep practices for their babies.
The film draws on the experiences of real parents, medical professionals, and community leaders to guide families through important choices surrounding infant sleep safety at home.
McCracken County Coroner Amanda Melton, who established a review group after identifying alarming trends in Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), will speak at the event. She will be joined by Marshall County Coroner Kenny Pratt to discuss those concerns. A question and answer session will follow the screening.
Marshall County Schools is urging all new and expecting parents to attend what organizers are calling a potentially life-saving evening of education and community dialogue.
The event is free and open to the public.
