(PADUCAH, Ky.)-A Paducah-area woman is facing felony drug trafficking charges after sheriff’s detectives caught her selling prescription painkillers in a local parking lot, authorities announced Monday.

Kim Watson, 40, of Hendron Road in McCracken County, was taken into custody February 20 following a month-long undercover investigation into suspected prescription drug trafficking, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives arranged a controlled purchase of hydrocodone from Watson in the parking lot of a business on Clint Hill Boulevard. She was arrested on the spot. A search of her purse turned up an additional 56 doses of the opioid painkiller. Authorities said Watson had no valid prescription for the medication.

Watson was booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail and charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and first-degree possession of a controlled substance, both related to hydrocodone.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about illegal drug activity in the area is asked to contact the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office at 270-444-4719 or submit an anonymous tip to West Kentucky Crime Stoppers by calling 270-443-TELL.
