Parolee Arrested After High-Speed Chase Ends in Crash

(GILBERTSVILLE, Ky.) – Tuesday, Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputies located Samuel J. Brackett, 32 years old of Hardin, KY. Brackett was known to have an active parole warrant for absconding parole supervision, leaving area of supervision without permission, failure to complete treatment, failure to complete graduated sanctions, and failure to report to parole officer as directed.
Upon seeing Deputies pull into the parking lot area of Moors Marina, Brackett fled the area at a high rate of speed. Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop and a brief pursuit ensued.
During the pursuit, the suspect lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a parked vehicle outside of a residence on Moors Road. Due to the collision, the resident’s parked vehicle was shoved forward into the living room of the residence. Another parked vehicle also sustained damage in the accident. Deputies vehicles were not involved in the collision.
One resident of the home sustained minor injuries and was transported via ambulance for treatment. The suspect was treated on scene and taken into custody.
Upon further investigation, Brackett was discovered to be in possession of a handgun, and impaired.
Brackett was served with the parole violation warrant and additionally charged with the following: speeding, reckless driving, attempted assault 1st degree, fleeing or evading police 1st degree, criminal mischief 1st degree, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, operating a motor vehicle under the influence 4th offense, wanton endangerment 1st degree, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, criminal mischief 2nd degree, and improper registration plate.
